Byron Donalds has been projected as Florida's next governor, marking a historic win as the state's first Black leader. He defeated former Republican David Jolly, who switched to the Democratic Party last year. Donalds' campaign was significantly supported by Donald Trump, influencing the Republican primaries. Despite some tensions, they campaigned together towards the end. Donalds will succeed Ron DeSantis, who is term-limited and did not endorse a successor. In New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was re-elected for a fifth term in the House, while Kathy Hochul retained her position as governor.
