Members of the Infrastructure and Transport Committee have invited representatives from the company responsible for the detonation of Stânca Pârjoaia to hearings. This operation, conducted on August 3, 2026, aimed to increase water flow to the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant amid low Danube levels. Discussions revealed concerns about the organization and efficiency of the intervention, which involved using 100-180 kilograms of explosives after an initial unsuccessful attempt. Costs for the operation are estimated at around seven million lei, with questions raised about the lack of a formal contract and bidding process. The actual increase in water level was only 1.2 centimeters, significantly lower than the projected 10-12 centimeters. The Bala II hydrotechnical project, estimated at one billion lei, is also under scrutiny for funding and documentation issues.
