The Infrastructure and Transport Committee summoned representatives from the company responsible for the detonation of the Pârjoaia Rock, which occurred on August 3, 2026. This operation aimed to redirect water flow to the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant to prevent Unit 2 from shutting down due to low water levels in the Danube. Initial attempts with a small amount of explosives failed, leading to the use of 100-180 kg of explosives to successfully break a significant portion of the rock. However, concerns arose regarding the lack of a formal contract and the unclear responsibilities for the operation's costs, estimated at around seven million lei. The effectiveness of the detonation was also questioned, as it reportedly only raised water levels by 1.2 centimeters instead of the targeted 10-12 centimeters. The overall execution of the intervention has been criticized for its lack of planning and accountability.
