Starting November 2026, Romanian pensioners in four counties will receive a new purple pension slip featuring a QR code for electronic verification. This change aims to enhance document authenticity and streamline administrative processes. Initially, it will affect pensioners receiving payments via card or bank account in Bistrița-Năsăud, Covasna, Harghita, and Ialomița. The QR code will allow institutions to verify the slip's authenticity electronically. Additionally, a legislative proposal may enable pension slips to confirm transport discounts through QR code verification. However, the pension amounts will remain unchanged, and the new slips will not affect income levels.
