Sweden has received German Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missiles to equip its JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets, raising concerns in Moscow. These missiles, weighing 1,400 kg and capable of striking targets over 500 km away, have been requested by Ukraine, which has prompted threats from Putin regarding a nuclear response. The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration confirmed the acquisition, although it remains unclear whether the missiles are for testing or full deployment. Sweden plans to integrate these missiles into its Gripen C aircraft as part of a modernization program, with operational capability expected by 2028. Additionally, Sweden will collaborate on developing the next-generation Taurus Neo missiles, which Ukraine is also interested in.
