The first official celebration of Romanian Language Day in Ukraine took place in Chernivtsi, attended by Romanian and Ukrainian officials. Participants laid wreaths at the statues of Mihai Eminescu and Taras Shevchenko. President Volodymyr Zelensky established this day through a decree in March, to be celebrated annually on August 31. The initiative aims to enhance Romanian-Ukrainian dialogue and protect cultural identity. Romanian officials expressed appreciation for the Romanian community in Ukraine, highlighting its role in preserving the language.
