Ziua Holocaustului în România. Peste 35.000 de evrei au fost deportați în Transnistria
Romania commemorates Holocaust Day on October 9, honoring victims of persecution during World War II. In October 1941, over 35,000 Jews were deported to Transnistria. The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes the importance of remembering each victim's life. Estimates suggest that between 280,000 and 380,000 Romanian and Ukrainian Jews were killed. The Roma community also suffered, with around 11,000 of the 25,000 deported dying. Established as an official day of remembrance in 2004, various commemorative events are held annually. The Elie Wiesel National Institute for the Study of the Holocaust focuses on research and education about this historical chapter. Romania has also implemented measures to combat antisemitism and promote inclusion.
