The labor code does not allow for automatic rescheduling of holidays that fall on weekends. In total, there are 17 legal holidays, but only 16 distinct dates in 2026 due to overlaps. Employees working on holidays are entitled to compensatory time off or a salary bonus. Employers face fines for non-compliance with holiday regulations.
