Today, Romania experienced a rare energy production scenario where renewable sources accounted for about 75% of total energy output, enabling significant exports. At 1:40 PM, the country exported over 3,000 MW of electricity, despite low hydro production and the Cernavodă nuclear plant being offline. This situation arose from an unusual combination of abundant sun and wind, with solar parks contributing over 2,500 MW and wind farms nearly 3,000 MW. The total instantaneous energy production reached approximately 7,600 MW, while the consumption was only 4,550 MW, indicating that renewable sources covered the country's energy needs and allowed for exports.
