He cited new data on the deployment of North Korean troops for training and future operations. Zelensky previously mentioned that up to 50,000 North Korean soldiers could be sent to support Russia. South Korea has provided non-lethal aid to Ukraine but has not supplied weapons. Estimates suggest North Korea has sent between 14,000 and 15,000 troops since 2024 to assist Russia. The majority are reportedly stationed in the Kursk region. Recent tensions arose between Ukraine and South Korea over the transfer of two captured North Korean soldiers, which Ukraine announced without prior agreement with Seoul.
