Zeci de oameni din Alba, prinși când încercau să fugă din țară, în perioada comunistă. Documente din arhivele Securității

Recent declassifications by CNSAS reveal that many Romanians attempted to flee to Hungary during the late communist regime. Between 1987 and August 1989, statistics show thousands sought to leave the country, with detailed records from Alba County indicating 70 individuals caught trying to cross illegally. Among them, a significant number were young men, with various political affiliations. Additionally, 28 managed to cross successfully, while 22 were returned by Hungarian authorities. The documents also highlight 29 individuals from Alba who received official approval to emigrate. Nationally, over 11,600 were apprehended attempting illegal crossings, with a notable increase in 1989. The data reflects the deteriorating socio-economic conditions prompting many to seek refuge in Hungary, a common route towards the West.
