The Permanent Electoral Authority proposes new voting rules aimed at simplifying the voting process for EU citizens residing in Romania and digitizing special voter lists. Online registration will be available, eliminating the need for in-person visits to local authorities. A new online form will allow eligible individuals to register up to 60 days before elections, requiring identification documents and personal data. Responses to registrations will be provided within 10 days, and special voter lists will be securely sent to local authorities. Additionally, the Central Electoral Bureau will publish validation results online within 24 hours. These changes are in response to new EU directives and will apply to the next European Parliament elections if approved.
