Vom putea plăti cu cardul la supermarket şi dacă pică reţeaua de Internet sau curentul electric. Mastercard introduce plăţile offline
Starting in 2027, Mastercard will enable offline payments across Europe, allowing transactions during power outages. New cards will support this feature, and terminals must comply by May 2027. This initiative follows a power outage in 2025 that left millions unable to make digital payments. The offline payment method uses a chip and PIN system, allowing transactions up to 200 EUR without a network connection. Mastercard has successfully implemented this in several countries and aims to enhance payment resilience across Europe. The move comes amid concerns over reliance on American companies in the financial sector, as Visa and Mastercard process nearly half of card payments in the euro area.
