Volkswagen intră în industria de armament, pentru a salva fabrica Osnabrück de la închidere
Volkswagen will convert its Osnabrück plant in Germany for defense production, partnering with Aurelius Capital and the Lower Saxony government. The factory, which employs 1,800 workers, will shift from vehicle manufacturing to producing components for Israel's Iron Dome defense system. This move follows negotiations about the plant's future, as Volkswagen aims to streamline operations amid industry challenges. The collaboration with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will focus on creating air defense systems for Germany and Europe. Volkswagen is also under pressure to cut costs, having recently approved a plan to reduce 50,000 jobs and halt production at four German plants.
