Volkswagen has agreed to sell its Osnabrück plant to Aurelius Capital and Lower Saxony, transitioning it into a defense production center with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. This marks a significant restructuring for the company amid declining demand in Europe and competition from Chinese manufacturers. The plant will cease vehicle production and focus on defense solutions, potentially saving around 1,400 jobs. This move is part of a broader strategy that includes massive job cuts and reducing the vehicle model portfolio.
