The WHO indicates that heatwaves are contributing to the spread of infected mosquitoes across Europe, particularly in Greece, Italy, Spain, and France. This summer, 81 cases have been confirmed in six countries, with Italy reporting the highest number. While most infections are mild, severe cases can affect the nervous system. There is no vaccine or specific treatment for the virus, and preventive measures are advised for travelers.
