In Romania, 117 cases of West Nile virus infection have been reported this season, with the highest number in Bucharest. Seven elderly individuals with pre-existing conditions have died. The National Institute of Public Health indicates that most infections occurred in people over 60 years old. The majority of cases were recorded in urban areas, particularly in Bucharest, Ilfov, and Giurgiu. Recommendations for prevention include wearing long sleeves, using repellents, and eliminating standing water.
