Viorica Dăncilă: Cioloș a promis închiderea a două mine

Former Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă revealed that Dacian Cioloș committed to closing coal mines in 2016. In 2018, Romania was asked to gradually phase out coal, leading to a government plan to reduce coal capacity by 540 MW over 12 years, contingent on replacing it with alternative energy sources. Dăncilă highlighted investments in technology upgrades for coal plants to reduce emissions and maintain energy exports. She also discussed agreements for nuclear reactors at Cernavodă and the stalled BALA II project, which aims to ensure water supply for cooling reactors. The project is now being re-evaluated due to recent water supply issues.
