Starting this autumn, students at the West University of Timișoara can study a new course on teaching educational chess. The Romanian Chess Federation aims to make chess a mandatory subject in schools. Previously, teachers were trained post-graduation, but now they will receive training during their studies. The initiative is part of a national program to integrate chess into education, enhancing critical thinking and decision-making skills among students. The course will be available to all students and aims to prepare future educators for teaching chess in pre-university education.
