Hungary and Romania partially shut down their nuclear facilities due to low Danube water levels. However, Romania is set to develop a unique nuclear plant in Doicești that won't be affected by drought, as it uses closed-loop systems for cooling. This innovative design ensures safety and independence from external water sources, allowing for stable operation even during crises. The project aims to replace an old coal plant with a cleaner nuclear facility, enhancing energy flexibility and reducing carbon emissions.
