VIDEO Vulturul și cei doi grifoni distruși în bombardamentele din 1944, repuși pe clădirea Palatului Universității din București
The University of Bucharest has restored the eagle and two griffins destroyed in 1944 bombings, marking the first step in the complete restoration of the original fronton. The new bronze sculptures weigh a total of 1.6 tons and were created by sculptor Alexandru Siminic. This project aims to fully reconstruct the sculptural ensemble designed by architect Alexandru Orăscu and sculptor Karl Storck between 1862 and 1869.
