On September 18, Bucharest residents received the keys to Lake Morii Island, which had already attracted a flock of coots the day before. The island features a newly developed park with 3.4 hectares of land, including 2.3 hectares of green space, funded by European and national funds. The project includes the planting of around 400 trees and the construction of pontoons for non-motorized water sports. Mayor Paul Moldovan announced a series of events from September 18 to 20, including orchestral performances and activities for children and adults. The island is part of a larger plan to create a linear park of 16.6 hectares extending from Șoseaua Virtuții to Chiajna.
