Cristian Pistol, head of CNAIR, announced the completion of the tunnels between Margina and Holdea on the A1 highway, marking a significant milestone for the Lugoj-Deva section. The Urșilor Tunnel is the longest highway tunnel in Romania, completed after two years of continuous work by 900 workers. The physical progress exceeds 75%, with ongoing concrete work and installation of safety systems. By mid-2027, uninterrupted traffic from Boița to Nădlac is expected. Additionally, the roadworks on Section 4 of the Sibiu-Pitești A1 are 99% complete, pending safety tests for the Momaia Tunnel, which features advanced monitoring systems. The opening of this section is anticipated this year, ahead of schedule, allowing traffic on 54 km of the 122 km highway.
