Starting October 2025, everyone in Romania will have free access to preventive medical services, regardless of insurance status. This initiative aims to address the high mortality rates from preventable causes and the low investment in health care. Currently, only 1% of the health budget is allocated to prevention, leading to overcrowded hospitals. Adults over 18 will be able to receive free specialist check-ups and tests with a referral from their family doctor.
