Crespi d’Adda, established in the late 19th century, is a unique industrial village designed for workers, featuring a self-sufficient community with essential services. Founded by Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, it aimed to provide housing and social services alongside employment. The village's urban plan, centered around a cotton mill, remains largely intact, showcasing a blend of architectural styles. Despite economic decline, it has preserved its historical structure and was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995, representing an exemplary 'company town' model.
