Romania's rugby team is set to play four matches in South Africa in 2027 against strong local teams, including Cheetahs, Pumas, and Griquas. Alin Petrache, president of the Romanian Rugby Federation, emphasized the importance of these matches for player development. The tour is planned for late May to early June, ahead of the World Cup in Australia. Additionally, Romania aims to strengthen ties with South Africa through a new alliance with Georgia, Portugal, and Spain, which will also include four matches in Europe. Petrache highlighted the need for international competition at all levels, including U20, to foster growth despite financial constraints.
