A 6-year-old girl from China, Lian Yunzhi, set a new world record for solving a Rubik's Cube in just over 4 seconds. She broke the women's average time record twice in three days during competitions in Wuhan and Guangzhou. Lian achieved average times of 4.52 and 4.27 seconds after solving the cube five times. Her mother noted that Lian's interest in the Rubik's Cube developed through extracurricular activities, and she has learned over 1,300 solving algorithms, practicing daily for 2 to 3 hours.
