New images of the Curtea de Argeș tunnel on the A1 Sibiu-Pitești highway have been shared, showing significant progress. This tunnel, the first of its kind in Romania, is part of section 4, which is expected to open by the end of August 2026. The contractor, Porr, is nearing completion, with asphalt being laid. The head of CNAIR indicated that the section could open earlier than the contractual deadline of February 2027, allowing traffic on 54 km of the highway. The project has a budget of 1.678 billion lei and is funded through the Transport Program 2021-2027.
