Romania is set to construct a segment of the Transylvania Highway that can also serve as an emergency runway for aircraft. This 3-kilometer section, located between Chiribiș and Biharia in Bihor County, has a project value of 785 million lei, funded by the European Transport Program 2021-2027. The construction is being carried out by Precon Transilvania-Citadina 98, with completion expected by May 2027. The project includes a dedicated parking area for aircraft and is currently 65% complete, ahead of schedule. Officials express optimism about opening the highway section by the end of the year, enhancing connectivity in the region.
