Canada has unveiled a new $20 bill featuring King Charles III, marking the first change in monarch on its currency in over 70 years. This new design replaces Queen Elizabeth II's image and incorporates symbols of the monarchy alongside elements representing Canada's history and Indigenous communities. The bill, presented by the Bank of Canada, features a vertical layout and includes the Vimy Ridge memorial on the reverse side. This change comes four years after Queen Elizabeth's passing and reflects ongoing debates about the monarchy's role in Canada. While some Canadians support the monarchy, others, particularly in Quebec, favor severing ties with it. The new bill is set to enter circulation in early 2027.
