A new road bridge over the Tisza River connecting Sighetu Marmației, Romania, and Bila Tserkva, Ukraine, has been opened. Named Maramureș - Transcarpatia, this project enhances cross-border infrastructure and connectivity. The bridge spans 268.8 meters and is part of a 1.2-kilometer route, including a new border checkpoint. Initially, it will accommodate vehicles up to 3.5 tons, with plans to expand access later. The project, costing 135.8 million lei, is funded by the Transport Program 2021-2027 and executed by a consortium of Romanian builders. It aims to boost economic development in Eastern EU and enhance NATO's eastern flank capacity.
