Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has convened a crisis committee to pump water at Cernavodă to prevent a forced shutdown of Reactor 2. The aim is to avoid a potential blackout during summer due to low water levels in the Danube. Authorities are assessing intervention solutions at the Bala arm of the river. Specialists from the Romanian Waters and Naval Forces will decide on actions to maintain water levels necessary for the operation of the nuclear plant. Bolojan also mentioned reviving an old project for restoration works in the area to ensure navigation and environmental protection. This project is crucial for the future operation of new reactors at Cernavodă.
