The Berceni Arena in Sector 4 of Bucharest has been renamed to honor the legendary hockey player Doru Tureanu. The renaming ceremony took place on September 19, organized by the National Agency for Sport and the local municipality. Tureanu, who played for Dinamo Bucharest for 17 years, is regarded as the greatest Romanian hockey player, winning six national championships and representing Romania in 17 World Championships and two Winter Olympics. He was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2011. The arena, inaugurated in August 2024, serves as the only ice sports facility in the capital, hosting various competitions and training programs.
