The forest fire in Băile Olănești has been ongoing for eight days, with military aircraft assisting ground forces in firefighting efforts. The affected area remains around 34 hectares, and while open flames are no longer present, smoldering remains persist. A mineralized strip has been created to prevent the fire's spread. The fire started near the Iezer hermitage and has expanded despite the efforts of over 40 firefighters and support personnel due to challenging terrain and dry conditions.
