VIDEO Moped românesc electric în anii ’70, pe străzile Bucureștiului, testat de britanici. Atingea 25 km/h și avea baterii reîncărcabile

In the 1970s, Romania developed an electric moped named Elmo, capable of reaching speeds of 25 km/h with rechargeable batteries. The project, led by researchers from the Bucharest Institute for Electrotechnical Industry, was set for series production in the early 1980s. The design, attributed to engineer Sigismund Șlaiher, influenced later projects. A British TV show, "Tomorrow’s World," featured the moped, highlighting its performance similar to a conventional 49 cc moped, with a runtime of about three hours per charge.
