A new tunnel on the Sibiu-Pitești highway has been fully pierced by Turkish contractors, marking progress in the construction project. The Boița 1 tunnel, measuring 264 meters, is the second completed by the Mapa-Cengiz consortium. Interior work is now underway, with overall progress at 45.11%. Other tunnels, Balota and Robești, are also under construction, with varying completion rates. However, environmental agreement issues limit the scope of work to about 45% of the total planned activities. The project includes seven tunnels in total, utilizing the NATM method, and is financed through the Transport Program.
