Călin Georgescu, a former presidential candidate, was arrested by DIICOT for forming a criminal group and fraud. He was taken into custody after a lengthy search of his home, where investigators found evidence including a jamming device and suspicious documents. Georgescu is accused of defrauding a businessman out of 1.1 million euros under the pretense of securing a loan. His associate, Ionel Rusen, was also arrested. The investigation began after a complaint from Răzvan Leu, who claims he was misled into investing in a fraudulent scheme. Both men are set to be presented for preventive arrest.
