The modernization project of the railway line connecting Bucharest to the Bulgarian border is progressing, with 12% completion expected by July 2026. Full rail traffic is anticipated to resume by September 2028. The project, valued at 2.108 billion lei, involves significant upgrades including electrification and improved signaling systems. It aims to enhance transport capacity and reduce travel times, linking Romania to the European TEN-T network. The project is crucial for both passenger and freight transport, with historical significance as the first railway line in Romania, inaugurated in 1869.
