The modernization of the Bucharest-Giurgiu railway line is progressing, with 15% completion reported. The project, costing over 2.1 billion lei, aims to upgrade 93.45 kilometers of track, including electrification and signaling improvements. RailWorks, a partnership of Arcada Company and Alstom, is responsible for the work. The railway connection to Bulgaria will be closed from April to December 2027, with full service expected to resume in September 2028. This project is crucial for enhancing Romania's transport links with Bulgaria and the broader European network, allowing for faster and more efficient rail services.
