The first regional PESA train was launched for passenger service on August 6, 2026, on the Bucharest-Brașov route. Minister of Transport Radu Miruță participated in the inaugural journey, highlighting the importance of utilizing previously unused trains. The project aims to enhance energy efficiency in rail transport and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Additional PESA trains will soon operate on various routes, supported by European funds and state budget contributions. The total project value is approximately 2.78 billion lei, with a 36-month implementation period.
