The "Emerald Island" project on Lake Morii aims to transform 3.5 hectares of unused land into a public green space for recreation. It includes a 2.3-hectare urban park with a sandy beach, walking paths, and various sports facilities. The project, costing nearly 59 million lei, is set to be completed by February 2027. It will feature hundreds of trees, a multifunctional pavilion, and areas for observing local wildlife. The development also includes modernized pedestrian access and smart public lighting. Lake Morii, the largest lake in Bucharest, was created in the 1980s to prevent flooding, displacing many residents in the process.
