The construction of section 4 of the A1 highway, from Tigveni to Curtea de Argeș, is nearly complete, with 99% physical progress reported. The opening of this 9.86 km section, built by the Austrian contractor PORR, awaits safety tests for the Momaia tunnel. The project, valued at 1.678 billion lei, is funded through the Transport Program 2021-2027. All bridges and viaducts have been asphalted and marked, while the tunnel is equipped with advanced monitoring systems. A final test with ISU representatives is scheduled for late September, and traffic is expected to open this year, ahead of the original deadline in February 2027, allowing for 54 km of the Sibiu-Pitești highway to be operational.
