VIDEO | Lucrările de 2,1 miliarde de lei la calea ferată București – Giurgiu au ajuns la 15%

The modernization of the Bucharest Progresu – Jilava – Giurgiu Nord – Giurgiu Nord Frontieră railway line has reached 15% completion. The project, valued at 2.108 billion lei, is led by RailWorks, a partnership between Arcada Company and Alstom Transport. It includes electrification, signaling upgrades, and the implementation of ERTMS Level 2. Significant works involve preparing the railway platform, constructing a 323-meter viaduct, and doubling the line in certain sections. The project aims to enhance capacity and efficiency, with a projected maximum speed of 160 km/h for passenger trains. However, international rail traffic will be temporarily disrupted from April to December 2027 due to modernization efforts, with full reopening expected by September 2028.
