The Pitești-Sibiu highway section, featuring Romania's first highway tunnel, is 99% complete, pending safety tests. The 9.86 km stretch will allow a maximum speed of 80 km/h. The opening is expected this year, ahead of the 2027 deadline, enabling traffic on 54 km of the total 122 km highway. The project, valued at 1.678 billion lei, is funded through the 2021-2027 Transport Program.
