Romania's Ministry of National Defense emphasizes that 40% of its €10 billion defense budget is contingent on domestic production. Minister Radu Miruță highlighted the importance of local partnerships, including drone manufacturing with Ukraine and ammunition production. Amid regional threats, Romania seeks NATO support until new military systems arrive. The ministry is also recruiting over 10,000 personnel and revising military career regulations. Miruță addressed transparency concerns regarding defense contracts, asserting that all projects were approved through proper channels. He noted the challenges of intercepting drones near the border and confirmed ongoing efforts to enhance defense capabilities, including the acquisition of Patriot systems.
