The Bucharest City Hall has released the first images from inside the building in Rahova that was destroyed by a devastating explosion a year ago. Safety works have commenced, with the installation of support pillars on the staircase. Workers are equipped with body cameras to document the process. The explosion, caused by a gas accumulation, occurred on October 17, 2025, resulting in four fatalities and injuries to 20 residents. The building was severely damaged, making it unsafe for residents to return. The construction site is now officially open, with 480 support pillars being installed to stabilize the structure. Residents will be allowed to retrieve small personal items once the staircase is secured. A recent technical expertise revealed that massive gas leaks from a cracked external pipe led to the explosion, initiated by a short circuit near the gas line.
