Călin Georgescu, a former presidential candidate, was arrested during a traffic stop and is implicated in this case. The investigation revealed that a group, led by a 64-year-old Romanian, misled business owners into believing they could secure large loans from foreign banks, resulting in significant financial losses for victims. The group allegedly induced a victim to transfer over 1.1 million euros under false pretenses regarding loan guarantees. The operation is supported by special intervention forces, and all suspects retain their legal rights and presumption of innocence.
