The Boița 1 tunnel on the Sibiu-Pitești highway has been fully pierced, with both galleries completed. However, construction is hindered by a lack of environmental permits. The physical progress of the project stands at about 16%, with ongoing work on the tunnel's interior lining. The Turkish consortium Mapa-Cengiz has completed the excavation of the second gallery, while work continues on other tunnels in the area. Due to missing construction authorizations, only 45% of contracted work can proceed. The entire section includes seven tunnels and is financed through the Transport Program.
