The final asphalt layer is being laid on the last meters of section 4 of the Sibiu-Pitești Highway, nearing 95% completion. The Austrian contractor PORR is actively working with a large team and equipment. Various tasks are ongoing, including earthworks, drainage, and installation of safety features. The project is expected to open earlier than the contractual deadline of February 2027, allowing traffic on approximately 54 km of the highway. The total contract value is 1.678 billion lei, funded through the Transport Program 2021-2027. This highway is significant as it is the first high-speed road crossing the Carpathians in Romania.
