VIDEO | Autostrada Sibiu – Pitești: A început lansarea tablierului metalic pe cel mai înalt viaduct al Secțiunii Boița – Cornetu

Turkish constructors Mapa and Cengiz have started the metal deck launch on the Valea Pleșei viaduct, the highest structure on the Boița-Cornetu section of the Sibiu-Pitești Highway. This operation involves the controlled pushing of the metal deck between the viaduct's pillars using hydraulic jacks and guiding systems, suitable for high structures where heavy cranes cannot be used. The viaduct is approximately 50 meters high and the metal deck weighs around 4,000 tons, made of Corten steel, which reduces maintenance costs. Currently, 627 workers and 156 machines are mobilized on-site, but work progress is limited due to the lack of revised environmental agreements and construction permits, allowing only about 45% of the planned work to proceed. The contract for this section is valued at 4.25 billion lei, funded through the Transport Program.
